Grissom Air Reserve Base Control Tower

This project included the design and build of a new aircraft control tower at Grissom Air Base in Kokomo, Indiana.  The facility occupancy is Business with numerous special requirement for Aircraft Control Towers from IBC and NFPA 101

The facility is protected throughout with automatic fire sprinklers and automatic wet standpipes. The local water supply was not sufficient to support the sprinkler system and automatic standpipe demands. A new electric fire pump was designed and installed to boost the available pressure.  The system is equipped with generator backup and an automatic transfer switch.

The facility is equipped with fire alarm and mass notification systems throughout. These are voice evacuation type systems used to warn occupants of fire or other impending danger. The systems are addressable intelligent systems with pull stations, strobes, speakers, smoke detectors, microphone stations and various other devices and appliances.
